Spiced Green Beans
Thanksgiving always requires a few green things, and although I certainly have my version of the classic creamy green bean side dish, I also like to spice it up a bit for my guests with this variation. After all, a true southern Thanksgiving should have an oyster casserole, and with my spinach kale casserole, my dinner doesn't need yet another casserole.
I may be attempting to posit myself here as a cooking and healthy eating expert, but even I admit that you can't do it alone. Sometimes a woman just needs another lady to help with a project, so for this recipe, Miss Dot calls on Mrs. Dash. Here's what you need:
Green Beans - Well, it isn't black bean casserole after all.
Fats - Butter and coconut oil for the basic recipe, but lard can work too. Feel free to adjust this to your own dietary preferences.
Chicken Stock - The liquid you use to soften your beans may as well add nutrients and flavor too.
Spices - A little sprinkle of Mrs. Dash frees you up from having to create your own elaborate spice blend.
